Hologic's mountainous support makes all the difference to Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust

Medical tech company and women’s health leader Hologic stepped up their support for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust in May, helping the charity to raise more than £25,000 through the National Three Peaks Challenge. The funds raised will help Jo’s work towards their goal of eliminating cervical cancer — a goal shared by Hologic.

This amazing effort involved employees of both Hologic and Jo’s climbing to the summits of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon over just 24 hours with the team battling through blizzards and snow to complete the challenge. It complements the generous support, in the form of a grant to support Jo’s’ Helpline, that Hologic gave to Jo’s in 2022. This grant also included funding to boost training for its Helpline volunteers, improving the long-term sustainability of this vital service.

The Helpline is there for anyone affected by cervical cancer, facing unexpected results or needing support around cervical screening. One caller added, “With all the confusing information about, and the NHS under so much pressure, I feel lucky to have access to such a good resource.”

Sam Dixon, Chief Executive at Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, said:

“Taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge was the hardest thing that I’ve ever done. But it was worth it. Fundraising efforts like this are absolutely crucial to the work of Jo’s — whether that be an engagement session about how attending cervical screening could save your life, influencing decision-makers so the UK adopts an elimination strategy for cervical cancer, or a support service for someone affected by a diagnosis of cancer or cell changes.”

She added:

“We’re very thankful to the Hologic team for their generosity and interest in the work we do at Jo’s, and delighted to be involved in their Global Women’s Health Index work.

Tim Simpson, General Manager UK & I at Hologic, said:

“We’re so pleased to continue supporting Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust. Hologic is a champion of women’s health and, as such, it makes perfect sense for us to continue with, and broaden, our relationship with Jo’s.”
