Confused

Hi everyone, I’m just wondering if anyone’s been in the same situation as me. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer yesterday and haven’t had my MRI scan yet. However I asked the nurse what Stage I was at and she told me 1B.

My question is:

How does she know this without my MRI scan?

Ive read a lot of people’s stories on here and they didn’t know much until after the MRI. I’m starting to worry that it’s more than 1B and that the nurse didn’t really know. I think this because when I went for my colposcopy and biopsy the doctor told me I didn’t have cancer and it turns out that I do.

I’m so confused, it’s making me more nervous than I think I normally would be.

Any reply will be greatly appreciated, thankyou X

I've been given an estimated staging of 1b1/2 but they can't be sure until all the tests are back. Try not to worry about it too much & continue on with life as normal and best you can. X

Hi Robyn9210,

Thankyou so much for replying to me, I hope you find out quickly, I went for my MRI today and was told I should have the results by end of this week early next week. They did tell me it’s early stages so that’s put my mind at rest.

I cant believe how quickly everything is done, I really thought I’d be waiting for ages for appointments. I’m definitely carrying on as normal and not letting it take over.

You’ve really put my mind at ease to know they estimated yours too. I hope you can get sorted quickly. Let me know how you get on xx

It shocked me too how quickly they push all these teat through. I feel like I haven't been away from the hospital since I was diagnosed. I hope all goes well with you too xx

Hi,

Got my MRI results, they've told me it’s at stage 1B1 and there’s no tumour and they can’t see it in my lymph glands.  I’m not sure how that works but that’s what they said. I have to meet with the surgeon on Thursday to discuss treatment but I think it’s quite early on,

Just thought I’d let you know, hope you get some good results xxx

My oncologist estimated mine as well at 1b2... I do have a tumor about 5cm... I’m going for my MRI Monday & Pet scan on Wednesday. I’m so nervous! And I have to stop breastfeeding my baby ;(

My post partum pap came back abnormal and they did the colposcopy and it came back severely abnormal but my ob told me it was not cancer, had a cold knife cone scheduled two months out and didnt think anythung of it bc he assured me it wasn’t cancer, that we were doing the procedure as a preventative measure. Had I even so much as thought this could have happened, I would have insisted on getting the procedure MUCH sooner. Fastforward two months to my procedure day- 11/14 he saw a lesion that was larger than when he did the coloscope. And had to change up the procedure a bit and did a leep instead of the cone. On 11/20 I got the news it was cancer! I was not expecting that, at all. I am so upset that they treated this without any urgency and that it wasn’t a big deal. It wasn’t made out as a big deal to me and now I have cancer! We could have treated this sooner. Obviously- I still have some things to work thru... and a bunch of emotions running thru my head. I’m trying to stay busy and positive, but it’s so hard sometimes.

Hi Ames,

I’m so sorry you feel like you‘ve been messed around. I found out today why they didn’t think it was cancer. It was because it was such a small section they though it was CIN. I also found out which I wasn’t told before that the section they removed was the cancerous section and it had clear margins. Wahoo! I still have to go for the cone biopsy and lymph node removal just to be sure it hasn’t gone elsewhere. I hope this is a similar situation to you however they seem to have worked very quickly with me. I don’t know where you are but I hope you get the treatment you need quickly xx
